In theory, the options should be arbitrary values and are neutral for
any ETM version; so far perf tool uses ETMv3.5/PTM ETMCR config bits
except for register's bit definitions, also uses as options.
This can introduce confusion, especially if we want to add a new option
but the new option is not supported by ETMv3.5/PTM ETMCR. But on the
other hand, we cannot change options since these options are generic
CoreSight PMU ABI.
For easier maintenance and avoid confusion, this patch refines the
comment to clarify perf options, and gives out the background info for
these bits are coming from ETMv3.5/PTM. Afterwards, we should take
these options as general knobs, and if there have any confliction with
ETMv3.5/PTM, should consider to define saperate macros for ETMv3.5/PTM
ETMCR config bits.

The driver core ignores the return value of struct bus_type::remove()
because there is only little that can be done. To simplify the quest to
make this function return void, let struct vme_driver::remove return void,
too. There is only a single vme driver and it already returns 0
unconditionally in .remove().
Also fix the bus remove function to always return 0.

The driver core ignores the return value of mei_cl_device_remove() so
passing an error value doesn't solve any problem. As most mei drivers'
remove callbacks return 0 unconditionally and returning a different value
doesn't have any effect, change this prototype to return void and return 0
unconditionally in mei_cl_device_remove(). The only driver that could
return an error value is modified to emit an explicit warning in the error
case.

Loic improved the MHI PCI generic controller by adding support for DIAG channel,
PCI error handling, suspend/recovery/resume, and health check. Loic also added
support for resetting the MHI device as per the MHI specification. This includes
writing to a specific register for default cases and looking for controller
specific callback when provided.
Along with this Loic, also added a new API which gets the number for free TREs
(Transfer Ring Elements) from the MHI core. The client drivers can make use of
this API and the current consumer is the "mhi-net" driver. For taking both the
"mhi-net" driver change and the API change, we created "mhi-net-immutable"
branch for this patch and merged the same into net-next and mhi-next.
Carl added a patch which lets the controller driver to pass the custom IRQ
flags for BHI and MHI event interrupts to the MHI core. The current consumer of
this feature is the ath11k MHI controller driver. For taking both the changes,
we created "mhi-ath11k-immutable" branch for this patch and merged into
ath11k-next and mhi-next.
Finally, Loic cleaned up the MHI queue APIs and fixed the shared MSI vector
support.

We are about to introduce support for sysreg access to ETMv4.4+
component. Since there are generic routines that access the
registers (e.g, CS_LOCK/UNLOCK , claim/disclaim operations, timeout)
and in order to preserve the logic of these operations at a
single place we introduce an abstraction layer for the accesses
to a given device.

All amba drivers return 0 in their remove callback. Together with the
driver core ignoring the return value anyhow, it doesn't make sense to
return a value here.
Change the remove prototype to return void, which makes it explicit that
returning an error value doesn't work as expected. This simplifies changing
the core remove callback to return void, too.

Intel Moorestown and Medfield are quite old Intel Atom based
32-bit platforms, which were in limited use in some Android phones,
tablets and consumer electronics more than eight years ago.
There are no bugs or problems ever reported outside from Intel
for breaking any of that platforms for years. It seems no real
users exists who run more or less fresh kernel on it. The commit
05f4434bc1 ("ASoC: Intel: remove mfld_machine") also in align
with this theory.
Due to above and to reduce a burden of supporting outdated drivers
we remove the support of outdated platforms completely.

When create the VMCI queue pair tracking data structures on the host
side, the IOCTL for creating the VMCI queue pair didn't validate
the queue pair size parameters. This change adds checks for this.
This avoids a memory allocation issue in qp_host_alloc_queue, as
reported by nslusarek@gmx.net. The check in qp_host_alloc_queue
has also been updated to enforce the maximum queue pair size
as defined by VMCI_MAX_GUEST_QP_MEMORY.
The fix has been verified using sample code supplied by

the latter happening every 2 seconds instead of the intended every 11

ntp: Fix RTC synchronization on 32-bit platforms

There is a need to distinguish geniune per-cpu kthreads from kthreads
that happen to have a single CPU affinity.
Geniune per-cpu kthreads are kthreads that are CPU affine for
correctness, these will obviously have PF_KTHREAD set, but must also
have PF_NO_SETAFFINITY set, lest userspace modify their affinity and
ruins things.
However, these two things are not sufficient, PF_NO_SETAFFINITY is
also set on other tasks that have their affinities controlled through
other means, like for instance workqueues.
Therefore another bit is needed; it turns out kthread_create_per_cpu()
already has such a bit: KTHREAD_IS_PER_CPU, which is used to make
kthread_park()/kthread_unpark() work correctly.
Expose this flag and remove the implicit setting of it from
kthread_create_on_cpu(); the io_uring usage of it seems dubious at
best.

The device link device's name was of the form:
<supplier-dev-name>--<consumer-dev-name>
This can cause name collision as reported here [1] as device names are
not globally unique. Since device names have to be unique within the
bus/class, add the bus/class name as a prefix to the device names used to
construct the device link device name.
So the devuce link device's name will be of the form:
<supplier-bus-name>:<supplier-dev-name>--<consumer-bus-name>:<consumer-dev-name>

If controller driver has specified the irq_flags, mhi uses this specified
irq_flags. Otherwise, mhi uses default irq_flags.
The purpose of this change is to support one MSI vector for QCA6390.
MHI will use one same MSI vector too in this scenario.
In case of one MSI vector, IRQ_NO_BALANCING is needed when irq handler
is requested. The reason is if irq migration happens, the msi_data may
change too. However, the msi_data is already programmed to QCA6390
hardware during initialization phase. This msi_data inconsistence will
result in crash in kernel.
Another issue is in case of one MSI vector, IRQF_NO_SUSPEND will trigger
WARNINGS because QCA6390 wants to disable the IRQ during the suspend.
To avoid above two issues, QCA6390 driver specifies the irq_flags in case
of one MSI vector when mhi_register_controller is called.

A dummy zero bit is sent preceding the data during a read transfer by the
Microchip 93LC46B eeprom (section 2.7 of[1]). This results in right shift
of data during a read. In order to ignore this bit a quirk can be added to
send an extra zero bit after the read address.
Add a quirk to ignore the zero bit sent before data by adding a zero bit
after the read address.

GCC versions >= 4.9 and < 5.1 have been shown to emit memory references
beyond the stack pointer, resulting in memory corruption if an interrupt
is taken after the stack pointer has been adjusted but before the
reference has been executed. This leads to subtle, infrequent data
corruption such as the EXT4 problems reported by Russell King at the
link below.
Life is too short for buggy compilers, so raise the minimum GCC version
required by arm64 to 5.1.

Pull networking fixes from Jakub Kicinski:
"We have a few fixes for long standing issues, in particular Eric's fix
to not underestimate the skb sizes, and my fix for brokenness of
register_netdevice() error path. They may uncover other bugs so we
will keep an eye on them. Also included are Willem's fixes for
kmap(_atomic).
Looking at the "current release" fixes, it seems we are about one rc
behind a normal cycle. We've previously seen an uptick of "people had
run their test suites" / "humans actually tried to use new features"
fixes between rc2 and rc3.
Summary:
Current release - regressions:
- fix feature enforcement to allow NETIF_F_HW_TLS_TX if IP_CSUM &&
IPV6_CSUM
- dcb: accept RTM_GETDCB messages carrying set-like DCB commands if
user is admin for backward-compatibility
- selftests/tls: fix selftests build after adding ChaCha20-Poly1305
Current release - always broken:
- ppp: fix refcount underflow on channel unbridge
- bnxt_en: clear DEFRAG flag in firmware message when retry flashing
- smc: fix out of bound access in the new netlink interface
Previous releases - regressions:

- mptcp: better msk-level shutdown
- rndis_host: set proper input size for OID_GEN_PHYSICAL_MEDIUM
request
- i40e: xsk: fix potential NULL pointer dereferencing
Previous releases - always broken:
- skb frag: kmap_atomic fixes
- avoid 32 x truesize under-estimation for tiny skbs
- fix issues around register_netdevice() failures
- udp: prevent reuseport_select_sock from reading uninitialized socks
- dsa: unbind all switches from tree when DSA master unbinds
- dsa: clear devlink port type before unregistering slave netdevs
- can: isotp: isotp_getname(): fix kernel information leak

This reverts commit 367c820ef0.
lockup_detector_init() makes heavy use of per-cpu variables and must be
called with preemption disabled. Usually, it's handled early during boot
in kernel_init_freeable(), before SMP has been initialised.
Since we do not know whether or not our PMU interrupt can be signalled
as an NMI until considerably later in the boot process, the Arm PMU
driver attempts to re-initialise the lockup detector off the back of a
device_initcall(). Unfortunately, this is called from preemptible
context and results in the following splat:
| BUG: using smp_processor_id() in preemptible [00000000] code: swapper/0/1
| caller is debug_smp_processor_id+0x20/0x2c
| CPU: 2 PID: 1 Comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 5.10.0+ #276

Rather than bodge this with raw_smp_processor_id() or randomly disabling
preemption, simply revert the culprit for now until we figure out how to
do this properly.

The size of kasan_early_shadow_pte[] now is PTRS_PER_PTE which defined
to 512 for arm. This means that it only covers the prev Linux pte
entries, but not the HWTABLE pte entries for arm.
The reason it currently works is that the symbol kasan_early_shadow_page
immediately following kasan_early_shadow_pte in memory is page aligned,
which makes kasan_early_shadow_pte look like a 4KB size array. But we
can't ensure the order is always right with different compiler/linker,
or if more bss symbols are introduced.
We had a test with QEMU + vexpress:put a 512KB-size symbol with
attribute __section(".bss..page_aligned") after kasan_early_shadow_pte,
and poisoned it after kasan_early_init(). Then enabled CONFIG_KASAN, it
failed to boot up.

Boot a CONFIG_MEMCG=y kernel with "cgroup_disabled=memory" and you are
met by a series of warnings from the VM_WARN_ON_ONCE_PAGE(!memcg, page)
recently added to the inline mem_cgroup_page_lruvec().
An earlier attempt to place that warning, in mem_cgroup_lruvec(), had
been careful to do so after weeding out the mem_cgroup_disabled() case;
but was itself invalid because of the mem_cgroup_lruvec(NULL, pgdat) in
clear_pgdat_congested() and age_active_anon().
Warning in mem_cgroup_page_lruvec() was once useful in detecting a KSM
charge bug, so may be worth keeping: but skip if mem_cgroup_disabled().

skb_seq_read iterates over an skb, returning pointer and length of
the next data range with each call.
It relies on kmap_atomic to access highmem pages when needed.
An skb frag may be backed by a compound page, but kmap_atomic maps
only a single page. There are not enough kmap slots to always map all
pages concurrently.
Instead, if kmap_atomic is needed, iterate over each page.
As this increases the number of calls, avoid this unless needed.
The necessary condition is captured in skb_frag_must_loop.
I tried to make the change as obvious as possible. It should be easy
to verify that nothing changes if skb_frag_must_loop returns false.
Tested:
On an x86 platform with
CONFIG_HIGHMEM=y
CONFIG_DEBUG_KMAP_LOCAL_FORCE_MAP=y
CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_STRING=y
Run
ip link set dev lo mtu 1500
iptables -A OUTPUT -m string --string 'badstring' -algo bm -j ACCEPT

Skb frags may be backed by highmem and/or compound pages. Highmem
pages need kmap_atomic mappings to access. But kmap_atomic maps a
single page, not the entire compound page.
skb_foreach_page iterates over an skb frag, in one step in the common
case, page by page only if kmap_atomic must be called for each page.
The decision logic is captured in skb_frag_must_loop.
CONFIG_DEBUG_KMAP_LOCAL_FORCE_MAP extends kmap from highmem to all
pages, to increase code coverage.
Extend skb_frag_must_loop to this new condition.
